Hinza bag
Hinza AB & Carmo
Beautiful Plastics / Plastic Recycling
Carmo supplies 10 tons of surplus plastic material each year to the Swedish bag manufacturer Hinza that transforms the material into designer bags. When Hinza uses the plastic each year, the recycling contributes to a saving of emitted CO2 compared to if the material had been burned as waste material.
The Swedish bag manufacturer Hinza decided that their new collection of designer bags should be made of recycled plastic. In Carmo, Hinza found a perfect match to supply the material for the new bag. Carmo’s recycled material can be used up to a very high percentages and gives Hinza full traceability of the material. The surplus plastic material is from one of Carmo’s productions of components for the medical device industry. Therefore, the material is of high quality. For the same reason, Carmo and Hinza expect the new Hinza bag to last a lifetime. When you don’t want to use the bag any longer, the plastic can be remelted and used again, thereby adding yet another life cycle to the plastic material.
The cooperation with Hinza fits perfectly with Carmo’s journey to meet the ambitious goals stated in Science Based Targets, which Carmo committed to in 2021. For Hinza, the use of recycled materials is in line with their ambition to reduce the use of virgin, oil based plastic.

All LifeStraw products start with advanced hollow fiber membrane technology. Picture bundles of straws with microscopic holes in them, so small that organisms like bacteria, parasites, and even dirt and microplastics cannot pass through. Think of a super advanced spaghetti strainer or tea sieve.
