Droneholdet SDU Eagles har udviklet den første ”blended-box wing” drone. Det er et specielt vingedesign, som er udviklet for at gøre fly mere energieffektive. Konstruktionen af vingerne gør, at flyet bruger mindre energi på at holde sig flyvende.
SDU Eagles består af 12 SDU studerende, som har designet, bygget og forfinet en eldrevet drone af kompostitmaterialer. Formålet med dronen er at revolutionere den måde, vi transporterer varer på - og i sidste ende gøre det muligt at udføre humanitære opgaver som eksempelvis at flyve nødhjælp ind i svært tilgængelige områder.
Holdet har skabt en drone, som flyver på elektricitet, og som sparer mere energi sammenlignet med andre typiske droner. Dronen kan transportere varer på op til to kilo.
