Healthy Water / Health by Design
SaWa products are an affordable and efficient solution to provide safe drinking water to communities in need. By reducing the risk of waterborne diseases, promoting gender equality, reducing emissions, and supporting healthy products, SaWa can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future.
Access to safe drinking water available every day and in sufficient amounts is a basic human right. However, more than 2 billion people still lack access to safe water. Providing safe water is often expensive and complicated to implement in rural areas, and the increasing effects of climate change make the gap between intentions and reality even more significant.
Our SaWa products provide an affordable, easy-to-use, and efficient solution to bridge this gap. The solar-powered water purification solutions only require 4 hours of sun exposure to deliver safe drinking water. SaWa Bag purifies 4 liters of water per use and is built to last for 500 uses. Similarly, SaWa Can, designed in the style of a jerry can, purifies 6 liters of water and can be utilized up to 900 times.
Access to safe drinking water has far-reaching benefits for users, communities, and regions. SaWa products can mitigate the risk of waterborne diseases, such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery, thereby alleviating the burden on healthcare systems and increasing productivity among community members. Using SaWa products can also minimize the need for firewood, charcoal, or fossil fuels for boiling water, leading to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and the preservation of more trees and vegetation. Providing SaWas to women and girls in rural communities can reduce the time they spend on water and firewood collection, thereby promoting more gender equality. Incorporating SaWa-cleaned water in products such as food and juice supports healthy products and mitigates the risk of sickness, which are crucial elements in fostering increased economic development and poverty reduction.
