Material sample set
Positive Plastics
Future Materials / Plastic Recycling
A collection of 34 plastic materials with a reduced environmental impact including bio-based plastics, bio-composites, and recycled plastics. The sample set inspires and helps engineers, designers, and architects to specify plastics with a lower impact for the products of the future.
The global plastic industry is rapidly introducing new plastic materials with a reduced environmental impact and many product manufacturers are now looking to replace their legacy fossil-based plastics with more sustainable alternatives. This development is driven by both consumer demand and ever more demanding regulatory requirements.
Positive Plastics was founded to help manufacturers of plastic products to discover these new low-impact materials. Positive Plastics creates material sample sets with moulded samples of bio-based plastics, bio-composites, and recycled plastics supplied by global plastic raw material suppliers. Until now 34 different materials have been included in the sets.
The materials are moulded in a clever shape that helps the holder of the sample to easily understand material properties such as stiffness, surface finish, and ease of moulding.
The material sample sets can be found at more than 200 different companies where engineers, designers, and architects use the samples to find inspiration for their material selection. The Positive Plastics material sample sets released in 2021 and 2022 are available for purchase and the company is working on the 3rd edition, which will be available by the end of 2023.
Carmo supplies 10 tons of surplus plastic material each year to the Swedish bag manufacturer Hinza that transforms the material into designer bags. When Hinza uses the 10 tons of plastic each year, the recycling corresponds to a saving of approximately 22,000 kilos of emitted CO2 compared to if the material had been burned as waste material.

The big challenge in hospitals and clinics all over the world is how to fixate the biopsy in formalin without exposure to spillage or vapour. Formaldehyde is a known human carcinogen which affects health in many nega-tive ways. Either when a person is exposed directly or through inhalation. Long term exposure to formaldehyde has been proven to be associated with an in-creased risk of cancer of the nose, nasopharyngeal and lung cancer.

The bio garage set is developed and produced to ensure the future growth of sustainable plastic products with focus on sustainable materials, production, play and learn, recycled to become a new item again. The raw material is renewable and made from residuals of the sugarcane production.
All LifeStraw products start with advanced hollow fiber membrane technology. Picture bundles of straws with microscopic holes in them, so small that organisms like bacteria, parasites, and even dirt and microplastics cannot pass through. Think of a super advanced spaghetti strainer or tea sieve.
